Kinsmen Club’s getting ready for Telemiracle

Feb 7, 2016 | 2:47 PM

The Meadow Lake Kinsmen Club is hard at work preparing for their annual Telemiracle event coming up next month, set for Mar. 5 and 6.

“Saturday night we get everything kicked off, we have some live bands playing that night and we have live radio coverage from 8 p.m.” Evan Haubrich, president of the Meadow Lake Kinsmen Club, said.

This year the province celebrates its 40th annual Telemiracle, while Meadow Lake is only on its 39th.

“We’re actually starting an hour earlier this year. So we’re going from 8 p.m. all the way to 5 p.m. the following day. Not too much going on early Sunday but we will be having a pancake breakfast in the morning,” Haubrich announced.

Besides live musical entertainment; there will be a magician and face painting for the kids. A canteen will be set up and, while not yet confirmed, the Kinsmen Club is working on having hair-cut booths and massage tables for the weekend.

Meadow Lake Telemiracle offers residents in and around the community the opportunity to perform locally, instead of having to travel to Saskatoon or Regina for the Saskatchewan Telemiracle.

“It’s going to be a great night full of fun and comradery, and seeing all of the schools come in and pledge their money that they collected,” Haubrich said. “That Sunday especially is a lot of fun.”

All of the proceeds from Meadow Lake’s and Saskatchewan’s Telemiracle go to the same fund, with the Meadow Lake area being given grants from the donations raised.

Admission to watch Telemiracle at the Meadow Lake Civic Center is free. Donations are gratefully accepted.

The Kinsmen Club is still accepting applications from those interested in providing entertainment. Volunteers are also in high demand.

To volunteer or sign up to perform on either date visit the Meadow Lake Kinsmen Clubs Facebook page.
