No lead pipes in Meadow Lake

Feb 11, 2016 | 6:14 AM

Residents in Meadow Lake hearing about the lead poisoning in Flint, Michigan can rest easy knowing there are no lead pipes in the Meadow Lake.

“I know our water gets tested very regularly for any of those kinds of things,” mayor Gary Vidal said. “We have a regime in Saskatchewan to make sure that doesn’t happen here.”

Water is tested on a weekly basis by the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency to ensure nothing has leaking into water systems.

“Most of our lines were replaced by copper or plastic lines. (To my knowledge) I’m not aware of any pockets of lead,” Meadow Lake interim city manager Richard Leveque said.
