Broncos and 89ers split opening series

The Meadow Lake Broncos opened up the second round of the Beaver Lakes Hockey League (BLHL) playoffs against the La Ronge 89ers on Friday Feb. 12.

It was a fast, high scoring game with the 89ers handing the Broncos their first loss in 13 games. The 89ers triumphed 7-5.

On Saturday, Feb. 13 the Broncos tied up their first best of five series with a 6-5 victory.

Ashton Mcintyre bumped his series point total up to four with two assists.

The Broncos and 89ers have the week off before the series continues on Feb. 20 and 21.

The Broncos will practice on Feb. 17 in preparation for game three.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. at Pine Ridge Ford arena.

Game four will be in La Ronge on Sunday Feb. 21. Date and time of a potential game five hasn’t been determined.
