Body of missing woman found in river near Denholm

Jun 8, 2016 | 6:52 PM

It was a tragic conclusion to a search for a missing Saskatoon woman after her body was found in the North Saskatchewan River southeast of the Battlefords earlier this week.

Battlefords RCMP were called around 9 p.m. Monday, June 6 to a grid road south of Denholm, to investigate an abandoned vehicle near the river. Police determined the vehicle belonged to Dorothy Rodgers, 61, of Saskatoon, who had been reported missing to Saskatoon police on June 4.

Both police and civilian search and rescue teams began a ground search Tuesday and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was also called in. On Wednesday at around 4 p.m. the team discovered Rodgers’ body in the water, not far from where her vehicle was located. Her family was notified.

Police do not suspect foul play in Rodgers’ death, and consider it non-criminal. An autopsy is planned for later this week.
