Two tornadoes touch down near Naicam

Jun 20, 2016 | 8:33 AM

Tornadoes were reported east of Saskatoon over the weekend as storms rolled through southern Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada confirmed two landspout tornadoes touched down in the Naicam area around 12 p.m. Sunday. The twisters appeared to have touched down in farmers’ fields, and no damage has been reported.

“It was on the ground for probably 10 minutes,” Trevor Seykora, an amateur storm chaser, described.

“(We) saw the one funnel come down. So we took off in the car just west of town and watched about three other funnels … And one started rotating pretty good.”
