Jul 3, 2016 | 11:54 AM

The Saskatoon Police Service has a 16-year-old girl in custody after the city’s ninth homicide of the year.

Officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Waterloo Crescent Sunday morning, July 3 to find an injured baby boy.

“I didn’t see or hear anything this morning,” said neighbour, Danny Sather. “This is one of the quietest neighborhoods in Saskatoon, I haven’t seen this type of thing in 30 years.”

The little boy was taken to Royal University Hospital where he later died from his injuries

The teen girl is not related to the infant.

The Saskatoon Police Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, along with the Chief Coroner’s office are actively investigating.

Sather said the house is a rental.

“We’re all in shock,” he said. “The neighborhood barely has any parties.”

Sather said the people have lived in the home for a while, but there isn’t any suspicious activity.

“We see the kids riding up and down the street a bit,” he said. “There is the odd party once in a while.”

Police are asking anyone that may have information regarding the incident call City Police at 306-975-8300 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477.

An update is expected from the Major Crime Unit Monday morning.
