RCMP officers to focus on school zones for September

With classes back in session, Meadow Lake RCMP will be monitoring drivers in and around school zones for its monthly initiative.

Through September, officers will focus on drivers’ speed within school zones, including cell phone use and other driving infractions.

School zones in the city are fairly unique in that the speed limit is 30 km per hour all day, every day, weekends included.

During August, RCMP focused heavily on commercial vehicles. Throughout the month, officers stopped several vehicles, which Cpl. Bob Wolfenden said were all compliant.

Each month, the Meadow Lake RCMP pay special attention to different driving infractions. In past months, officers focused on impaired and distracted driving, cell phone use, and seatbelts.
