Ikea opens new collection point for Sask. shoppers

Sep 6, 2016 | 12:37 PM

It’s not a new store in Saskatchewan, but Ikea is making big moves in the province.

The Swedish furniture company posted on its website customers can now take advantage of flat-rate shipping with a newcollection point in Saskatoon.

No matter how many items in the cart—or the size—Sask. shoppers will pay $79 for shipping to Dynamex, located at 3275 Miners Ave. in Saskatoon. Online buyers were previously charged $170.

People shopping online can select the delivery method during checkout and choose the day and time that works best.

The collection point will be closed Sundays, but open Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday to Friday between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Once the items arrive at the destination, customers will receive a phone call. Anyone picking up must bring proof of purchase and government-issued identification.

If someone else is collecting the order, customers will need to forward them a copy of the proof of purchase and include written consent in the email, including the full name of the designated person. They will also need a valid government-issued photo ID.

The shipping option was first offered in July for Halifax customers.

In an FAQ section pertaining to collection points, Ikea states if items are not retrieved within eight days following the delivery date, orders may be subject to a storage charge or will be returned.

Additionally, the externally-run location cannot process returns or exchanges.

The site also clarifies no Ikea items will be sold at the collection point.

For more information, customers are asked to call the company directly.
