Forward Deanne Rose to lead Canada at FIFA U-17 World Cup in Jordan
TORONTO — Canadian international forward Deanne Rose leads Canada’s 21-woman squad for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan later this month.
The tournament runs Sept. 30 to Oct. 21 at four stadiums in Amman, Irbid, and Al Zarqa. Canada opens against Cameroon on Sept. 30 in Irbid before heading to Amman to face Germany on Oct. 3 and Venezuela on Oct. 7.
The Canadians will take on England in a friendly match Sunday.
“We are going into Jordan with the aim of getting as many games for these players in their journey as possible, which means getting out of the group and really pitching the most talented youth from Canada against some other leading women’s football nations,” head coach Bev Priestman said in a statement.
