RCMP investigating arson, stolen vehicle

Meadow Lake RCMP are investigating an arson.

Sgt. Ryan How said the investigation is ongoing and more details will be provided when available.

Meanwhile, police handled a range of other calls in the past week.

In one instance, police say an unidentified male tried providing a false confession for a criminal theft. The man is now charged with obstructing a peace officer. He was released on a promise to appear in court this March.

Officers are also investigating a vehicle theft from one of Meadow Lake’s hotels. The tractor trailer was located a short distance away and police continue to investigate.

Not all police calls were crime-realated. RCMP were present at the Meadow Lake Winterfest held on Saturday, Feb. 11. Const. Connor McLeod ran radar during the snowmobile races and clocked the fastest sled at roughly 150 km/h.
