Meadow Lake RCMP helped track down a stolen vehicle yesterday, thanks to help from a GPS system. RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle on Mar. 6. RCMP located the vehicle south of Meadow Lake and arrested 29-year-old Akol Piok. The vehicle had been stolen from Regina. Piok has been remanded back to Regina on numerous outstanding criminal charges.

Meadow Lake RCMP is also thanking the public for their assistance with the arrest of Dennis Brian Yew. Acting on a tip, Meadow Lake RCMP and the Serious Violent Offender Unit were able to have plain clothes officers prepared to arrest Yew on Whitefish First Nation. He was taken into custody without incident.

Yew was wanted for serious criminal offenses including assault and failing to comply with his conditions. Police said he was also the primary suspect in several property crimes in the area. Beyond his charges in the Meadow Lake area, he was also facing outstanding charges in other detachment areas.

Meadow Lake RCMP handled 108 files in the past week.
