“I’m sorry for ruining your life… I wish I could take back what I did… I’m sorry I shot at you that day.”
These were some of the words today in Meadow Lake court from the teen who shot 11 people, killing four in La Loche in January 2016.
In a prepared statement, he spoke to each of the victims he shot, including Dayne and Drayden Fontaine, Adam Wood, Marie Janvier, family members of the injured and dead, and to some of those who shared their victim impact statements.
To Charlene Klyne, he said you can’t see any more because of me, you were a good teacher.
To Adam Wood, he said that he didn’t know him well because he was a new teacher, but that he “wasn’t a target.
The court also heard from neuropsychologist Dr. Monty Nelson this morning. The sentencing hearing continues this afternoon.
More to come.
