Potentially fatal unknown substance in Regina: police

Regina police are warning people about a potentially fatal substance after two men overdosed last week.

On June 22, police were sent to a home on the 1800 block Osler Street. Two men, 41 and 47, were separately taken to hospital in the morning after non-fatal drug overdoses. Both have been discharged from the hospital.

Police said it is not known what caused their symptoms but said an investigation has linked both men to the use of the same unknown substance.

Police believe both men thought they were using heroin.

According to police, the substance has been submitted for analysis. Police are advising people “not to take chances with their health” until more is known about this substance and its origin.
