Aug 14, 2017 | 10:52 AM

Police arrested two people and seized over $50,000 worth of cocaine, several weapons, marijuana and cash on Waterhen Lake First Nation (WLFN) this past weekend.

Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, Meadow Lake RCMP executed simultaneous search warrants on two residences on WLFN with assistance from the Loon Lake detachment.

In a media release, Meadow Lake RCMP Sgt. Ryan How said the arrests and seizures came after a period where officers monitored the activities of 35-year-old Miles Lasas and 39-year-old Mona Lasas.

“An investigation into trafficking cocaine had been underway for some time before the execution of these warrants,” How said.

During the search, Mona Lasas and 30-year-old Megan Mistickokat were arrested. Both were charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of property obtained by crime. Both appeared at Meadow Lake Provincial Court this morning.

During the arrest police seized 491 grams of cocaine, 49 grams of marijuana and six firearms, as well as more than $5,000 cash and a large quantity of American currency, How said.

Miles Lasas remains at large, and is wanted for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, illegally obtaining a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Miles Lasas is asked to contact the Meadow Lake RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
