Prairie North Health Region looking to add Meals On Wheels volunteers

Aug 22, 2017 | 2:36 PM

One of the programs Prairie North Health Region offers is always looking to add more volunteers to its roster.

Meals on Wheels serves meals to those in home care. The program runs daily, in conjunction with local volunteers and kitchen staff at the Northwest Health Facilty in Meadow Lake. There are two regular routes, with roughly 15 regular clients in town, but demand for drop-off and pick-up depend on the season.

Darlene Kingwell, Manager of Volunteer and Spiritual Services with the Prairie North Regional Health Authority, said Meals on Wheels encouraged community-minded individuals to get involved.

“Meals on Wheels is such a great way of being involved as it only usually takes an hour of your day,” she said. “It’s an involvement not only for individuals service groups, churches businesses, but you can choose your time.”
