High winds caused some issues for a pair of boaters on Waterhen Lake.

Meadow Lake RCMP officers located Sunday a small aluminum boat on the lake struggling to return to the boat launch due to six to eight foot tall swells.

In a media release, Sgt. Tim Sartison said officers were able to assist the boat safely back to the launch, and the two people aboard were very thankful for the help.

“RCMP reminds the public to be very cautious of ever-changing weather conditions while enjoying the open water,” he said. “Boaters need to be aware of their boat’s limitations and ensure [it] has the required safety equipment.”
