It turned out to be a Happy Thanksgiving when police found two missing boaters.

The pair from the Lloydminster area were found safe the morning of Monday, Oct. 9 after Loon Lake RCMP received notice about a 50-year-old male and 50-year old female did not return home from a boat trip on Round Lake.

Loon Lake RCMP and Saskatchewan Environment Resource Management conducted an immediate search of the lake. The next morning, a lifejacket, overturned boat and fishing gear were discovered on the shoreline.

In a media release, Loon Lake Detachment Commander Sgt. Phil DeGruchy said both parties were transported to hospital and have since been released.

“The RCMP are thankful that we were able to locate these individuals with assistance from our partners,” he said. “We wish to thank everyone who participated in the search efforts.”
