City of M.L. pays grant forward to Door of Hope

Nov 2, 2017 | 5:00 PM

The Door of Hope, Meadow Lake’s food bank and soup kitchen, is getting a $500 boost from the City of Meadow Lake, thanks to a grant the city received from the Saskatoon Travelodge Hotel.

The hotel’s Saskatchewan’s Strong Communities Program was created to acknowledge the community spirit and patronage shown by their guests and clients over their 45 years of business. The current owner, Betty Ann Latrace-Henderson said despite the many economic ups and downs over the years, it is important to help others.

The grant will provide $500 a year to the city for the next three years to help fill a need in the community, and Meadow Lake is one of 24 municipalities in the province to receive funding from the initiative.

Mayor Gary Vidal said city council decided unanimously to give the first $500 installment to the Door of Hope food bank.
