New appeal date set for murder conspiracy case

Nov 16, 2017 | 1:48 PM

A new appeal date has been set for two lovers convicted of conspiring to murder their spouses.

Curtis Vey and Angela Nicholson will both appear at the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal in Regina on Dec. 15.

Both were convicted last year after a trial in Prince Albert.

Vey received a sentence of three years and Nicholson received a sentence of three years less two months.

At the time of the sentencing, Vey’s lawyer Aaron Fox said his appeal was based on several arguments including a claim the judge failed to properly instruct the jury and a juror was allegedly seen talking to a family member of Nicholson’s estranged husband.

The initial hearing date for the appeal was Oct. 3 but was ultimately adjourned as the court was still waiting on some information from the Crown.

Nicholson and Vey have separate lawyers with separate appeals.
