Provincial parks lottery registration begins today

Jan 3, 2018 | 1:00 PM

The countdown is on for those who enjoy camping in our province and after last week’s cold snap; it can’t come soon enough.

Beginning today, anyone interested in securing a seasonal site in one of the 19 provincial parks can submit a lottery application online. The lottery process is used to allocate these seasonal campsites because they are in such high demand.

“Seasonal camping is very popular in our province so sometimes demand outweighs the number of sites available,” Robin Campese, from the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sports, said. “Using the lottery system is a fair and easy way to allow people to participate in a draw for one of the 700 sites that are available in Saskatchewan.”

The deadline to submit a completed application is Thursday, Feb. 1 with the awarding of the campsites happening on Feb. 5. Application forms can be found online at www.saskparks.net. All successful applicants will be contacted by phone or email.

“Unfortunately with a limited number of spaces up for grabs and so many people wanting to enjoy the beauty and relaxation our parks offer not everyone is successful,” Campese added.

Provincial parks in the Greenwater area will take regular bookings for the 2018 camping season on April 12, the Battlefords on April 17, Meadow Lake April 18, and Lac La Ronge on April 19.
