Weekend warm-up on the way for Saskatchewan

Jan 5, 2018 | 7:12 AM

After toughing out the bitter cold over the New Year’s weekend last week, people in Saskatchewan can look forward to a much nicer first weekend of 2018.

Most of the province saw a return to seasonal temperatures through the week and Environment Canada meteorolgist Shannon Moodie said the weekend should create some opportunities for people to get outside and enjoy above-seasonal temperatures starting Saturday.

“The winds are going to be shifting to a northwesterly-westerly direction and this is going to bring in some warmer air to the area. In fact, most of Saskatchewan is going to see a warming trend,” she said.

That warmer air is expected to translate to daytime highs of -2 C in Saskatoon and -3 C in Regina, about 10 degrees above seasonal averages in both cities.
