It was a busy night for Meadow Lake RCMP on Thursday, Jan. 11, as they attempted to nab those involved with stealing a truck in the city.

Officers located the stolen truck around 10 p.m. They tried to initate a traffic stop with the vehicle, but it lost control and hit a power pole.

In a media release, Sgt. Ryan How said the occupants then fled on foot.

“RCMP Police Dog Services was called to assist and tracked the suspects to a multi-family residence before the trail was lost,” he said. “No injuries were reported as a result of the collision and the damaged power pole was repaired by SaskPower.”

How added the truck is also believed to have been involved in several incidents of mischief involving garbage cans and erratic driving on the city's east side prior to being located by police. Suspects have been identified, but have not been arrested or charged. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Meadow Lake RCMP at (306)236-2570 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
