Meadow Lake OSB donates coats to Door of Hope

A local business made a donation to the local food bank and soup kitchen which will keep more community members in need warm this frigid winter.

On Friday, Jan. 12, Meadow Lake OSB donated roughly 20 coats to the Door of Hope. According to a media release, the industrial grade garments were once used by employees to do their jobs during extreme cold snaps, but since the OSB increased its internal safety regulations, these particular coats won’t be used on site anymore. Coats at the plant must now be orange, while these coats are blue and black.

Kelly Brander, Mechanical Board team leader at the Meadow Lake OSB said it was important for the company to pay it forward.

“We wanted the coats not to sit on a shelf somewhere or in boxes or bags,” he said. “We knew that they could be used immediately in the community. This is such a good fit and we are very happy to see that the coats will benefit so many people right away. When we see a former Meadow Lake OSB coat, we know that we have helped those who need it the most in our community.”
