Council approves lot rezoning for seniors’ complex and retail space
Meadow Lake could have a new seniors’ complex in the next couple of years.
Council gave the go-ahead for a vacant lot, located at 601 Second Ave. W., to be rezoned from residential to multi-use, as local developers Meadow Lake Properties would like to construct a 28-unit, four storey apartment building with six commercial spaces on the first floor.
The proposal was submitted for advertising and a public hearing was held at the council meeting on Monday, March 26. Citizens from the city, and in the areas adjacent to the proposed building were given an opportunity to respond to the project. There were none brought forward.
Al MacFarlane, owner of Meadow Lake Properties, attended the hearing. He said if the rezoning was approved, official plans would be firmed up and he would aim to start construction in spring 2019.
