Public cautioned as black bear spotted in Stabler Point campground

Those enjoying the Victoria Day long weekend at Stabler Point campground appear to have an unwelcome guest and are asked to be cautious after a black bear was spotted in the area.

The Ministry of Parks issued the dangerous animal alert shortly after noon Saturday afternoon. 

The public is warned to be extremely cautious while in the park and to alert authorities should they spot the bear. 

People should not approach or attempt to catch the bear. 

If you do spot the bear, campers are advised to leave the area, head or remain indoors and call the Park Watch number at 1-800-667-1788.
