Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Laurent Shrine, Fr. Phinh Do –
•    August 15, Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven – You are welcome to join in for a special day of pilgrimage on August 15.  The day begins at 3:00 pm with Charismatic prayer time at the log Church. The evening begins at 6:00 pm with Marian Prayer and Rosary, a talk by Rev. Fr. Jim Kaptein at 6:30, Celebration of Eucharist at 7:30 followed by the Candlelight Procession.
•    September 8, Feast of the Birth of Mary – Come and celebrate on Thursday, September 8.  The evening begins with Adoration at 4:00 pm and the opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet and evening prayer at 6:30pm, celebration of Eucharist at 7:00pm followed by the candlelight procession, closing of the Holy Door and ending with birthday cake and coffee. You are invited to bring a live long stemmed rose to present to Mary during Mass or you may purchase roses on site.

Catechetics, Christine Taylor –
•    August 29, Youth Ministry Workshop with Mike Patin – Will take place at St. Michael Parish 1505-13 St. West in Prince Albert from 6:30-9:00 p.m. (Optional pizza supper at 5:30 p.m.)  Perhaps not the best date and time, but definitely the perfect opportunity. Mike Patin, a highly sought after speaker, will be giving a presentation to the Catholic School teachers in Prince Albert on Monday August 29 and the Diocese has taken the opportunity while he is here to set up an evening for anyone involved or who wants to get involved in ministry with youth to listen to this excellent presenter with over 30 years of youth ministry experience. Using energy, humor and stories, Mike will affirm God’s goodness and presence among us while inviting others (and himself) to take the “next step” in our journey with God.
•    September 24, Fall Catechist Workshop “Becoming the Mercy of God”- On September 24, we will celebrate all the Catechists in our Diocese at Sacred Heart Cathedral 1401- 4th Ave. West Prince Albert from 10:00am-2:30pm.  This year’s Diocesan Catechist Workshop, we will focus on the theme of Mercy and the special Jubilee of Catechists. The presenters for this day will be Fr. Doug Jeffrey, OMI.  His presentation is entitled “God of Compassion, God of Mercy.”  Director of Catechetics, Christine Taylor, will speak on “Celebrating the Jubilee for Catechists.”  There is no cost to attend but we do need your RSVP.  To register for any or all of these events contact Christine Taylor at 306-922-4747 ext. 227 or catechetics@padiocese.ca or Debbie McHarg at 306-922-4747 ext. 229 or projectassistant@padiocese.ca.  The worldwide Jubilee for Catechists is held on Sunday, September 25.  
•    October 18-19, Forming Intentional Disciples with Katherine Coolidge – Will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral 1401-4 Ave. West Prince Albert beginning at 9:00am each day.  This is part one of a workshop that encourages parish leadership to foster an awakening of personal faith in Christ and to answer the call from one’s baptism to become intentional discipleship. Pastoral Care, Fr. Dong Doan
•    September 11, 10th Annual Compassionate Healers Mass – This mass is being held on Sunday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Cathedral (1401-4 Ave. West, Prince Albert). Refreshments to follow.  Coming together as one community this special invitation is extended to: Medical Personnel, Spiritual Care, Volunteers, Parish Nurses, Men and Women Religious in Health Care Ministry, Ministry of Care Volunteers in Parishes and Health Care Facilities and Family Caregivers, Medical & Healthcare Students. The Eucharist will re-energize us in our professions and in our faith.  Bound by common beliefs, we share in the healing ministry of Jesus Christ throughout the diocese.
•    October 20-21, Catholic Health Association of Saskatchewan Conference – This year’s theme is ‘Hope Floats Serving in Health Care as People of Faith.’ Keynote speakers will be Dr. David Kuhl, PhD and Archbishop Lavoie. Dr. David Kuhl will help us to reflect on ways in which healthcare professionals can bring hope to the relationships in which they serve while meeting the challenges of an increasingly complex healthcare system. Archbishop Emeritus Sylvain Lavoie will provide a theological reflection on hope, exploring its deeper origins and the role it plays in our lives. Mark Pickup, who has advanced multiple sclerosis and is wheelchair dependent, will share the story of his journey from despair to hope as he found meaning through his Christian faith.  We will also be hosting a World Cafe. In these sessions, participants will be asked to explore a set of questions at their table before visiting another table to hear their thoughts, providing us with an opportunity to learn from each other’s’ challenges and to find inspiration in each other’s’ successes. Social Justice/Missions, Louis Hradecki
•    Updated – Diocesan Refugee Fund – In his February 18, 2016 letter to all parishes, Bishop Albert Thévenot, M. Afr. announced the creation of a Diocesan Refugee Fund to assist parishes and groups who are unable to fully finance a refugee, yet are willing to be responsible for settlement obligations.  Donations can be sent and made payable to the Diocese of Prince Albert, Attention: Louis Hradecki, 1415 – 4 Ave. West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5H1.  Please write “Refugee Fund” in the memo area. Donations are eligible for a tax receipt. Sacred Heart Cathedral Raffle – The Cathedral is holding another raffle! Proceeds will go towards the debt from recent renovations.  First prize is a $20,000 gift card at Canadian Tire.  Tickets are available from Sacred Heart Cathedral parishioners and can be purchased at the office.  If you require more information please contact Andrea Gareau 306-764-2947 or the parish office at 306-763-2319.  Tickets on sale after July 9.  

August 15-19, North Battleford Cat.Chat VBS “Birthday Blast, a Celebration of Life” – The camp will run from
Monday, August 15 – Friday, August 19, St. Joseph Calasanctius Parish in North Battleford from 9am-12pm each day.  Ages 4-12 will enjoy games, snacks, crafts and more! August 23, Thanksgiving Celebration of the Educational Legacy of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Prince Albert – On Tuesday, August 23 at 1:30pm, a Eucharistic celebration will take place, followed by a program and a time of fellowship.  All present and former students, parents, teachers, friends and benefactors of Sion, APM, Rivier and the Presentation of Mary are cordially welcome.

September 10-11, North Battleford Light of Christ Catholic Schools – Backpack Blessing – On the weekend of Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11, we invite all students and staff who work in schools, and their families, to attend one of our Parishes’ Masses to receive a special blessing for the new school year. Mass times and addresses under Parish and Diocesan Events at www.padiocese.ca.  You do not have to be a member of a parish to attend.  As our children head back to school our parishes, would like to recognize this exciting and sometimes anxious time, by inviting the youth to participate in a “Blessing of Backpacks.”  This is a wonderful way for the parishes to bless our children and our school staff, with a prayer for a safe and successful year of learning.  All young people are encouraged to bring their backpack, receive this special blessing and a small gift on behalf of LOCCS.

September 11, Grandparents Day Stroll-A-Thon – Mont St. Joseph Foundation is celebrating their 17th annual Stroll-a-thon on September 11.  Join them from 2:30-4:30pm.  Their mission for this fundraiser is not only to raise the much needed monies, but also to raise awareness in our community about this Nationally Celebrated Day! October 13-14, Catholic Family Services Prince Albert Presentation by Jann Derrick – This is a two day experiential and didactic training that focuses on the relationships and dynamics of Aboriginal families within the Indigenous Worldview. Traditional roles were based on guiding and caring for the children, and residential schools disrupted and attacked this heart of the family. The resiliency, strengths and resistance of families and relationships will be seen as the platforms for returning the children to their rightful place. Who should register? Addictions workers, child care workers, correction workers, counsellors, educators, health care workers, lawyers,  physicians, police officers, social workers, therapists. Complete two day workshop 9:00am-4:00 pm at St. Michael Parish in Prince Albert.  The dinner is October 13 at 6pm. Fee $310 early bird rate – $360 after August 15.  Nutrition breaks, lunches and dinner on Oct. 13 are included in the registration. Prince Albert Catholic Education Foundation Fundraiser “Chase the Ace” – Tickets are $2.00, which can be purchased weekly to have a chance to win 20% of that week’s sales.  Once the name is drawn, a deck of cards is cut and if the Ace of Spades is cut, that winner would take home the jackpot, which grows each week.  There were 100,000 tickets printed.  The draw is held every Monday night in the basement of St. Joseph Parish at 8:00pm. All are welcome to attend. The winner does not have to be in attendance to win. August 8, week 18 winner was Jackie Packet at $89.60.  The growing jackpot is at $3664.20.

August 28, 17th Annual Pilgrimage at Pro-Life Millennium Cross – You are welcome to join the 17th annual pilgrimage at the cross located 10 km north east of Aberdeen, SK on Highway #41. The event will begin at 3:00pm. Keynote speaker, Cathay Wagantall, M.P. from Yorkton- Melville will speak on her proposed Bill C-225/e183 for Protection of Pregnant Women and their Unborn Children Act, also referred to as Cassie and Molly’s Law.  Fr. Jeffrey Stephaniuk, editor of Saskatchewan Choose Life News will also speak.  A Living Rosary is celebrated along with other prayers.  Visit the Pro-Life information tables.
