Winter at Prince Albert National Park

Nov 10, 2017 | 7:48 AM

As the night sky expands into the early evening and the geese complete their migration south, experience a new season at Prince Albert National Park. Please feel free to share with colleagues, tourism partners, and the public.

Save the date! 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Harvest, November 24-December 24

In 2001 and 2002, Prince Albert National Park developed a community fuel break around the Waskesiu townsite. Since then, a number of young coniferous trees have grown back, limiting the effectiveness of the fuel break.

This holiday season, we invite you to get into the spirit of Christmas and cut your own tree. Pick out a young spruce or pine tree in the designated area and help maintain the Waskesiu Community Fuel Break! Pick up a free tree permit at the Visitor Centre between November 24 and December 24, and create new holiday traditions and family memories at Prince Albert National Park.

Two parks, one adventure!

Did you know? A 1km spur trail connects the Spruce River Highlands trail to 18km of ski trails in the Anglin Lake area. This winter, create your own adventure from Prince Albert National Park to Great Blue Heron Provincial Park!

Visit the Prince Albert National Park trail report page for updates on current trail conditions: https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/sk/princealbert/visit/visit11

Waskesiu, after dark!

The Milky Way, northern lights and constellations are yours to enjoy in Prince Albert National Park. Bring your telescope to South Bay or Paignton Beach along the Narrows Road for wide open views of the night sky. Annual meteor showers in August, October and December are a thrill that can be seen in the park.
