Village of Makwa in state of emergency

Recent torrential downpours have forced the Village of Makwa into a state of emergency.

According to Claire Elliott, administrator for the village, overland flooding began on Saturday, June 9, and only worsened after excessive precipitation into the next day.

Rabbit Fire grows in size

The fire inside the Prince Albert National Park has grown in size and now has about 200 firefighters working to knock it down, with new additions arriving from Quebec and the Northwest Territories in recent days.

Summer memories wiped out as wildfire destroys cabins

The unofficial kick off to summer was instead a devastating time for families who saw decades of memories go up in smoke over the weekend.

Thirteen cabins in a subdivision on Flotten Lake, located inside Meadow Lake Provincial Park, were destroyed by a wildfire.
