Heat wave bringing record daily temperatures: Environment Canada

After a hot, dry spring we're now in for more record-breaking temperatures this week as we officially enter summer.

The temperatures are expected to be up to 12 degrees hotter than normal for this time of year and a heat warning is in effect for the La Ronge area.

Makwa residents hope for help from province after weekend flood

There aren’t many dry floors or basements in Makwa at the moment after rain pummelled the community over the weekend, causing widespread flooding and prompting a state of emergency.

Recent torrential downpours have forced the Village of Makwa into a state of emergency.

According to Claire Elliott, administrator for the village, overland flooding began on Saturday, June 9, and only worsened after excessive precipitation into the next day.
