Kinsmen Foundation forgives woman who stole from Telemiracle

A hangover and an apology appears to be enough punishment for a woman who made off with cash meant for Telemiracle.

The Kinsmen Foundation issued a statement Tuesday saying the woman who stole money during a fundraiser Saturday at SaskTel Centre called to apologize and has replaced the stolen cash.

The woman was reportedly intoxicated when she cleaned out one of several buckets passed around the SaskTel Centre stands during a Saskatchewan Rush game on March 2.

That led venue staff to check surveillance footage. From there, a photo of a woman allegedly responsible for the theft was widely circulated online.

By March 3, Saskatoon police reported a woman had turned herself in.

The Kinsmen Foundation’s statement said the woman’s apology was accepted and criminal charges would not be pursued.

Telemiracle is an annual fundraiser by the Kinsmen Foundation that supports the purchase of specialized medical equipment and treatment for people in need.
