Roadwork

City of Meadow Lake takes a proactive approach to roadwork

Feb 21, 2020 | 12:11 PM

It’s still winter, but administrators at the City of Meadow Lake are starting to take an early look at contractors for street paving this June.

City Manager Diana Burton told meadowlakeNOW the project should be wrapped up by mid-August.

“We typically don’t see pavement work start before June, though we have had a general goal the last two years to get the process started as early as possible so we can get as much use on the pavement before the snow falls,” she said.

The work consists of excavation and hauling, supply and installation of subbase course, base course, hot mix, asphalt milling, micro-paving and utility patches.

The following streets within the city are slated to be paved for improvement or maintenance:

  • Third Street East – Fourth Avenue East to Second Avenue East
  • Gibson Crescent – Bridger Drive to Carl Drive
  • Bridger Drive – Gibson Crescent Intersection West
  • East Service Road – Ninth Avenue West to Fifth Avenue West
  • Fifth Street West – Stack Crescent (South leg) to Ninth Avenue West
  • Fifth Street West – Ninth Avenue West to Seventh Avenue West
  • Ninth Avenue West – Highway 4 to 50 metres West of Dunfield Crescent (West leg) and Utility Patches at 39 locations of approximately 2,221 square metres.

Utility Patches will be the first priority and will be completed first during construction.

The city will accept tender applications until 2 p.m.on Wednesday, March 4.
