Co-op to fund improvements to Willow Creek Community Garden
Co-op is providing $26,000 to enhance and expand Willow Creek Community Garden in Meadow Lake through Co-op Community Spaces program. The program has been developed to help protect, beautify and improve spaces across Western Canada.
“[We will be] adding raised garden beds, creating pathways throughout the garden and install a trenched drainage system around the garden area,” Pat Morley of Willow Creek Community Garden said in a release. “Co-op’s contribution will also help add a pergola to provide a shaded region for gardeners.”
This year, the program is providing $1 million to 17 community projects from Vancouver Island to Manitoba. Since 2015, Co-op has donated $9.5 million to 132 projects.
Caralee Strome, general manager of Meadow Lake Co-op said partnering with community groups helps to build into and improve our communities for today and into the future.
