Province records 58 new cases, releases Halloween guidelines

There are 58 new cases of COVID-19 to report, bringing the provincial total to 2,841.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (one), Far North East (one), North West (eight), North Central (six), North East (two), Saskatoon (29), Central East (three), Regina (five), and South East (two) zones and one case is pending location.

There are public health investigations underway to determine the source of transmission for all new cases. There are 652 active cases. A total of 2,164 people have recovered.

There are 24 people in hospital. Eighteen people are receiving inpatient care with seven in the North zone, nine in the Saskatoon zone, and two in the Regina zone. There are six people in the intensive care unit, with one in the North Central zone, four in Saskatoon and one in Regina.

Of the total cases, 351 are travellers, 1,392 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 730 have no known exposures and 368 are under investigation by local public health.

In the province, 87 cases are healthcare workers, but the source of infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.

There are 561 cases involving people 19 years old and under. The remainder are adults.

There are 1,016 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 804 in the 40 to 59 age range, 380 in the 60 to 79 age range, and 80 are in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty-one per cent of cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

There are 25 deaths related to COVID-19 that have been reported to date.

There are:

• 665 cases from the Saskatoon area
• 537 cases from the north area (175 north west, 249 north central, 113 north east)
• 489 cases from the south area (228 south west, 211 south central, 50 south east)
• 436 cases from the far north area (382 far north west, 0 far north central, 54 far north east)
• 369 cases from the central area (196 central west, 173 central east)
• 342 cases are from the Regina area
• Three cases have pending residence location.

So far, there have been 253,675 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. Yesterday 3,434 tests were performed in Saskatchewan — the highest daily number of tests performed to date. The previous record was 3,049 tests performed Oct. 11.

Halloween Safety

If you plan to celebrate Halloween, you are urged to not attend or host large events that exceed gathering size limits.

NITHA communities

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority released their daily COVID-19 update that are specific to their communities.

According to their Facebook page, five cases are active in the Far North West, and 17 cases are active in the Far North East.

There are 44 cases active in the North Central, and 21 cases are active in the North East, two of which are in hospital.

There are 106 cases (55 per cent) recovered.

NITHA is comprised of the Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, and Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
