Visitor limitations in place as COVID-19 cases increase in Meadow Lake
Due to a rise of COVID-19 cases in Meadow Lake, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is advising residents to follow public health guidelines, adding there will be new visitation limits at Meadow Lake Hospital.
Effective December 8 at 8 a.m., visitation will be limited exclusively to compassionate reasons. These reasons include family or support persons during end-of-life care, major surgery, intensive or critical care, maternal/pediatrics, long-term care residents whose quality of life or care needs are unmet or those inpatients and outpatients with specific challenges.
No other visitors will be allowed into the facility during the advisory, and the limits will remain in place until it is deemed safe to return to the previous guidelines. The new restrictions will be re-evaluated in four weeks, the health authority said.
Family members and support people will need to participate in a health screening that includes a questionnaire and temperature scan before entering the facility. Guests are required to clean their hands before and after entering both the building and a patient’s room. Social distancing remains in effect, and masks should be worn when distancing is not achievable or practical.
