Province greenlights local speed reduction plans
The latest list of communities to receive funding from the provincial government for road safety projects includes the Town of Battleford, Meadow Lake, as well as the smaller communities of Unity and Hepburn.
In total, 66 communities across Saskatchewan have been approved for grants totalling $750,000 from the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund.
The various projects include speed display signs and other speed reduction initiatives, as well as funding for intersection and crosswalk improvements. A full list of approved projects and grant amounts can be viewed here.
The Town of Battleford was awarded over $72,000 for the installation of two prepare-to-stop-when-flashing signals on Highway 4 – one south of 29th Street, and one north of 22nd Street and Highway 40. The project was discussed at a council meeting last September.
