240 new COVID cases, one death

The province administered 304 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine yesterday, bringing the total amount to 33,353. There was one new death reported.

As of Jan. 25, 102 per cent of the doses received were administered in the province. The overage comes from the ability to pull extra doses from the vials of vaccine the province received.

The doses were administered in the following zones: Saskatoon (149), Far North Central (11), Far North East (11), and North West (133). An additional 10 vaccines not previously reported, were administered in the Far North Central zone on January 19.

There are 240 new cases of COVID-19 to report today, bringing the provincial total to 22,416 cases.

One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The individual was from the North Central Zone and in the 80+ age group.

Of the new cases, the northern numbers are 17 in the Far North West, two in the Far North Central, three in the Far North East, 33 in the North West, 12 in the North Central, and 36 in the North East.

Three cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North West (one), North Central (one), and South East (one) zones.

One previously reported case was deemed to be out-of-province and removed from the count for Saskatoon.

A total of 18,890 individuals have recovered and 3,272 cases are considered active.

Two hundred and two people are in hospital. One hundred and seventy people are receiving inpatient care: Far North West (three), North West (13), North Central (27), North East (two), Saskatoon (69), Central West (three), Central East (eight), Regina (39), South West (one), South Central (one) and South East (four).

Thirty-two (32) people are in intensive care: North West (two), North Central (two), Saskatoon (14), Central East (one), Regina (11), South West (one) and South Central (one).

There were 2,193 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on January 23, 2021.

To date, 493,132 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. As of January 22, 2021 when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 280,726 people tested per million population. The national rate was 453,601 people tested per million population.

NITHA Communities

As of yesterday, Jan. 24, there are 401 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central, Athabasca (53), Far North West (131), Far North East (105), North Central (8), and North East (104).

There are 1,881 cases (82 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are currently in hospital.

NITHA is comprised of the Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, and Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

SHA Drive-thru Testing Wait-Times Now Available Online

Beginning today, the Saskatchewan Health Authority will post the wait times for all drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites on their website at https://www.saskhealthauthority.ca/news/service-alerts-emergency-events/Pages/COVID-19-Drive-Thru-Wait-Times.aspx. Wait times will be updated three to four times per day, depending on the hours of operation for each site. Wait times are approximate and can change very quickly.

Testing at the drive-thru sites is available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether they have symptoms. A referral from HealthLine 811 or family physician is not required, however, a valid health card and/or identification will be requested.
