Province records 147 new COVID-19 cases, two more deaths

The province administered 88 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine yesterday, bringing the total amount to 35,447.

As of Feb. 1, 108 per cent of the doses received were administered in the province. The overage comes from the ability to pull extra doses from the vials of vaccine the province received.

The doses were administered in the following zones: Far North East (22) and Saskatoon (66).

Daily Statistics

There are 147 new cases of COVID-19 to report today, bringing the provincial total to 24,011 cases.

Two Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Both reported deaths were in the 80+ age group in the North West zone.

Of the new cases, the northern numbers are 14 in the Far North West, four in the Far North East, 24 in the North West, three in the North Central, and 21 in the North East zones.

Ten cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (two), Far North East (one), North West (six) and Saskatoon (one) zones.

A total of 21,336 individuals have recovered and 2,369 cases are considered active.

Two hundred and two (202) people are in hospital. One hundred and seventy-two (172) people are receiving inpatient care: Far North West (four), Far North East (one), North West (19), North Central (22), North East (two), Saskatoon (65), Central East (10), Regina (43), South Central (one) and South East (five). Thirty (30) people are in intensive care: North West (two), North Central (two), Saskatoon (11), Central East (four), and Regina (11).

To date, 510,538 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. As of January 30, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 285,862 people tested per million population. The national rate was 460,025 people tested per million population.

NITHA Communities

As of yesterday, there are 460 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central, Athabasca (46), Far North West (152), Far North East (114), North Central (20), and North East (128). There have been 2,056 cases (81 per cent) recoveries and 14 people are currently in hospital.

NITHA is comprised of the Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, and Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

Public Health Measures

Enforcement of public health orders is permitted under The Public Health Act, 1994. Public health inspectors will be supported in their efforts to ticket violators quickly to ensure that businesses and events are brought into compliance as quickly as possible, in addition to the enforcement efforts that have been undertaken by police agencies throughout the province.
