Mar 12, 2021 | 3:29 PM

Another age group will become eligible Saturday to book COVID-19 vaccination appointments.

As of Saturday at 8 a.m., individuals 76 and older can book appointments through the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s patient booking system.

Appointments can be made online (www.saskatchewan.ca/covid19-vaccine) 24 hours a day seven days a week, or by calling 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5289) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.

The system launched Thursday for those 85 and over. On Friday, eligibility was expanded to include people aged 80 and over.

As of Friday at 11 a.m., 10,636 appointments had been booked since the system started operation. That included 8,552 that were made online and 2,084 that were booked through the phone line.

AstraZeneca vaccine clinic opening for 64-year-olds in Regina

On Monday, a pilot drive-through immunization clinic will open on the grounds of Evraz Place for people who are 64 years old as well as for all Phase 1 health-care workers who are eligible to get vaccinated.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority noted appointments can’t be pre-booked for the drive-through clinics.

The clinic Monday will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Only those whose birthdates are between March 16, 1956 and March 15, 1957 will be eligible to get a shot.

Health-care workers also will be able to attend a drive-through clinic Sunday. That will allow operators to test the process for the public.

Sunday’s clinic is not open to the public.

The SHA said the site will open up to other ages in reverse order from oldest to youngest in subsequent days. The SHA urged people not to attend Monday’s clinic unless they have been told their age group is eligible.

“When you are eligible to receive a vaccine at the (Evraz Place) location, please enter the grounds through the Lewvan and 11th Avenue entrance and follow the GREEN signs for the immunization drive-through clinic,” the government said in a media release.

“If you are going to the appointment-only Immunization Clinic, follow the BLUE signs. For the COVID-19 drive-through testing, follow the YELLOW signs.”
