118 new cases and six deaths reported in province today

The provincial government reported 118 new cases of COVID-19 and 216 recoveries in Saskatchewan today, bringing the provincial total to 46,163 cases; 44,031 recoveries and 1,442 cases are considered active.

Forty-four cases tested out of province have been added to the following zones: Far North East, five; Far North West, one; North Central, one; North East, one; North West, two; South East, three; and Regina, 14; Seventeen cases are pending residence information.

Six new deaths are being reported today. One death in the 60-69 age group, two deaths in the 70-79 age group, and two deaths in the 80+ age group, all from the Saskatoon zone. One death was also reported in the 70-79 age group from the North West zone.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, two; Far North East, three; North West, eight; North Central, 19; North East, two.

NITHA Data

As of May 26, there are 39 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 14; Far North East, 21; North Central, 0; and North East, four. Of these active cases of COVID-19, 18 have been deemed Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North West, seven; and Far North East, 11. So far there has been 3521 cases (98%) that have recovered, and three people are being hospitalized.

Vaccines Reported

An additional 9,427 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 679,274.

The 9,427 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 342; Far North Central, one; Far North East, 75; North West, 683; North Central, 373; North East, 598; Saskatoon, 1,961; Central West, 358; Central East, 1,155; Regina, 2,086; South West, 195; South Central, 687; and South East, 719. There were 194 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-six per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Seventy per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Sixty-four per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.

Re-Open Saskatchewan – Child and Youth Camps (Overnight Camps)

Parents can start making plans for their children to attend summer camp this year. Overnight camps will be able to resume operations as part of Step Two of Saskatchewan’s Re-Opening Roadmap.

Step Two will take effect June 20, after reaching the milestone last weekend of 70 per cent of people age 30 and above receiving their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and three weeks after the beginning of Step One.
