Meadow Lake resident launching first Community Market throughout summer

One local business owner is launching a community market designed to bring the community together while promoting local businesses. The event will also be open to smaller-scale yard/garage sales as long as the products are in good condition.

On Saturday, May 29, the first community market event is expected to take place in the Aurora Cinemas parking lot. The event will run from 10-4 p.m., and will return every Saturday until the final Saturday of the summer on August 28.

Event organizer Amber Ambroziak said the market provides residents in the community and surrounding areas with an event to look forward to as there usually aren’t many activities going on.

“There’s not a lot going on around in Meadow Lake right now, and not too much in the past either. As for markets, we have our farmer’s market that starts up in June, but that’s every Friday, and it’s for the afternoon. [There’s] a lot of people working in the afternoons that can’t get around to going,” Ambroziak said.

“My goal is just to give back to the community by having the community come together and show what we’ve got. So whether you own a small business, you’re going through the house, we have some household items too. Let’s say you’re an organization or whatnot, and you want to get the word out, by all means, come set up a little booth. We really want to know who is out there, what items are offered and what organizations are offered.”

A single-day booth is currently priced at $20. Multiple days throughout the summer can be purchased, and the event will run whether the sun is shining or the rain is pouring. Vendors are advised to monitor weather conditions and prepare accordingly as there will be no refunds.

As of right now, the daily maximum amount of vendors is capped at 20, but could expand if a larger venue is found and the current public health guidelines are still followed.

There are still spots available for people and businesses to participate in the market. To book a spot, people are directed to contact Ambroziak at 306-304-1880. Spots will not be reserved until the $20 fee has been submitted.
