Eligibility for second COVID shots in Sask. to expand Thursday

Jun 23, 2021 | 5:44 PM

The eligibility to get a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in Saskatchewan is to reach its final stage Thursday.

Starting at 8 a.m., everyone in the province over the age of 12 will become eligible once 28 days have passed since their first shot.

That means, as of Thursday, everyone who received their first dose on or before May 27 can get a second shot. Those who got their first dose on May 28 will be able to get a second dose on Friday, people who got their first shot on May 29 will be eligible on Saturday, and so on.

To get a second shot, people must know the date of their first vaccination. That information was on the card presented to them when they got their first shot, but it also can be found by calling 1-833-727-5829 or by checking Immunization History on their MySaskHealthRecord account.

There currently are more than 45,000 appointments available for first and second doses at Saskatchewan Health Authority clinics around the province.

People can book appointments online 24/7 or by phone (1-833-727-5829) from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days per week.

The SHA also is operating mobile and pop-up clinics as well as drive-thru and walk-in clinics. Residents also can get vaccinated at a participating pharmacy.
