Twenty-one new cases of COVID-19 reported in the province

The province is reporting an additional 21 new cases and 36 recoveries from COVID-19 in Saskatchewan on July 2. This includes only eight new cases in the province’s northern zones.

This brings the provincial total to 48,882 cases; 47,909 total recoveries and 405 cases considered active.

Eight of the 21 new COVID-19 cases being reported today are in Northern Saskatchewan zones.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, five; Far North Central, one; North West, one; and North Central, one. Four previously reported cases have been assigned to North Central, three; and North West, one.

No new deaths are being reported today.

NITHA Data

As of July 1, there are 61 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), four; Far North West, 24; Far North East, 33; North Central, 0; and North East, 0. There have been 3,668 cases (98 per cent) that have recovered, and seven people are being hospitalized.

There are 13 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; three, Far North West, seven; and Far North East, three.

Vaccines Reported

An additional 20,981 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,194,535.

The additional 20,981 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported on Friday were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 256; Far North Central, three; Far North East, 165; North West, 524; North Central, 719; North East, 427; Saskatoon, 7,251; Central West, 642; Central East, 2,044; Regina, 5,904; South West, 460; South Central, 845; and South East, 1,150. There were 591 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-one per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and forty-five per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.

With the 20,981 new vaccines administered in the province, 71 per cent of residents aged 12 and over have now received their first dose and 45 per cent have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. (Government of Saskatchewan)
