Half a million Saskatchewan residents now fully vaccinated

After an additional 7,393 second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were reported in the province today, the Saskatchewan government is reporting over half a million Saskatchewan residents are now fully vaccinated.

The total number of vaccines delivered in the province is now at 1,233,534 with a total 8,348 reported today.

The additional 8,348 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 19; Far North Central, one; Far North East, 81; North West, 701; North Central, 309; North East, 68; Saskatoon, 3,462; Central West, 119; Central East, 189; Regina, 2,842; South West, 49; South Central, 99; and South East, 185. There were 224 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-one per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and 49 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.

Daily COVID-19 Statistics

There are 14 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on July 6, bringing the provincial total to 48,992 cases; 48,110 recoveries and 313 cases considered active.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, five; Far North Central, one; North West, two; North Central, four.

One new death was reported today in the 30 to 39 age group from the North West zone.

NITHA Data

As of July 5, there are 116 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), five; Far North West, 24; Far North East, 87; North Central, 0; and North East, 0. There are 33 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; two, Far North West, 12; and Far North East, 19. There has been 3,684 cases (96 per cent) that have recovered, and 12 people are hospitalized.

Limit Transmission of Variants of Concern in your Community – Get Vaccinated

The number of confirmed cases of the Delta variant has increased significantly in the last two weeks. The Delta variant is assumed to be 1.5 times more transmissible and twice as virulent as the Alpha variant.

Two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are required for optimal protection against the Delta variant. Residents are strongly encouraged to get their first and second doses as soon as possible.
