With numerous wildfires burning across Saskatchewan the air quality can vary from community to community.

Residents in Prince Albert are currently seeing poor air conditions on Saturday and Sunday. This weekend Prince Albert is at a very high risk according to the air quality health index.

There is a special air quality statement in affect for the Battlefords, Unity, Maidstone, St. Walburg and other surrounding communities, according to Environment Canada.

Meadow Lake, Big River, Green Lake, Pierceland, La Ronge, Prince Albert National Park, Narrow Hills Provincial Park, Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin and Carrot River are also under the statement.

As a result of numerous forest fires in northern Saskatchewan, they are producing smoke and poor air quality for communities near and downwind of the fires.

A severe thunderstorm warning is also in effect on Saturday for both the Narrow Hills and Candle Lake Provincial Park, Montreal Lake, Molanosa, Lac la Ronge Provincial Park and the Prince Albert National Park.

Environment Canada meteorologists say it is capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.
