Saskatchewan’s northwest continues to report high new case rates

The province announced another 26 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan today, including 18 that are in the six Saskatchewan northern zones. This brings the provincial total to 49,556 cases; 48,694 recoveries and 287 cases considered active.

Of the current active cases, 170 are in the northern zones in the province, with the other 117 being reported in the remaining 7 zones.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, 14; Far North East, one; North West, two; and North Central, one. One case was reassigned to the North West zone. Five cases, which were Saskatchewan residents tested out-of-province, were added to the following zones: Regina, four; and South East, one.

No new deaths were reported today.

NITHA Data

As of July 21, there are 114 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), seven; Far North West, 72; Far North East, 32; North Central, 0; and North East, three.

There are 34 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; two, Far North West, 17; and Far North East, 13; North Central, 0; and North East, two.

There has been 3866 cases (96%) that have recovered, and four people are hospitalized.

Vaccines Reported

An additional 7,286 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,366,006.

The additional 7,286 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 86; Far North Central, 21; Far North East, 67; North West, 595; North Central, 480; North East, 222; Saskatoon, 1,846; Central West, 200; Central East, 395; Regina, 2,149; South West, 142; South Central, 216; and South East, 600. There were 267 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-four per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and 60 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.
