Province reports 51 new cases of COVID-19, two deaths

Following a delay in the COVID-19 update from the provincial government, 51 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Saskatchewan, including 34 that are in northern zones of the province.

This brings the provincial total to 49,608 cases; 48,719 recoveries and 312 cases considered active.

There are 189 active cases in the six northern zones.

The new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 10; Far North Central, eight; Far North East, eight; North West, seven; North East, one. Three cases are pending residence information. Three cases were reassigned to the Far North Central zone. One case that tested out-of-province was added to the Saskatoon zone.

Two new deaths were reported today. One death was reported in the 50 to 59 age group from the Regina zone and one death was reported in the 60 to 69 age group from the North East zone.

NITHA Data

As of July 22, there are 129 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 13; Far North West, 78; Far North East, 35; North Central, 0; and North East, three.

There are 33 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; two, Far North West, 16; and Far North East, 13; North Central, 0; and North East, two.

There has been 3,871 cases (96 per cent) have recovered, and six people are hospitalized.

Vaccines Reported

An additional 8,204 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,374,210.

The additional 8,204 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 110; Far North Central, 10; Far North East, 73; North West, 444; North Central, 590; North East, 200; Saskatoon, 2,998; Central West, 170; Central East, 659; Regina, 1,874; South West, 227; South Central, 254; and South East, 319. There were 276 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-four per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and 61 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.
