Province reports 56 new cases, two new deaths

The province is reporting another 56 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total to 50,251 reported cases; 503 considered active cases and 49,167 considered recovered.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan zones are located in the Far North West (five), Far North Central (two), Far North East (two) North West (one), North Central (two).

Two new deaths were reported today making the total dead in the province 581, a case fatality rate of 1.2 per cent.

There are currently 503 active cases of COVID-19 in the 13 provincial zones. This includes 252 active cases in the six northern zones of the province. (Government of Saskatchewan)

Of the total active cases across the province, Northern Saskatchewan zones make up exactly half at 252 cases.

Another 3,861 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has been reported today by the provincial government. Total vaccines delivered in the province now sit at 1,422,820, including 658,751 fully vaccinated Saskatchewan residents.

NITHA Data

As of Aug. 4, there are 108 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 24; Far North West, 41; Far North East, 39; North Central, 0; and North East, four. There are 4,043 cases (96 per cent) recovered, and four people are being hospitalized.

There are 44 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; 10, Far North West, 23; and Far North East, 10; North Central, 0; and North East, one.

As of Aug. 3, the Saskatchewan government is changing the way they report the provincial COVID-19 statistics.
