Province reports 65 new cases in province, 536 new cases in last seven days

As of August 10, there are 65 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 50,679 reported cases; 634 cases considered active and 49,461 cases considered recovered.

There are currently 269 active cases in the six northern zones of the province.

There are two new deaths reported today bringing the provincial total to 584 residents with COVID-19 that have died. The provincial case fatality rate of 1.2 per cent.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (12), Far North Central (four), Far North East (11), North West (two), and North Central (six).

Almost two-fifths (38.5 per cent) of the 65 new cases were in the 20 to 39 years age category.

The province also reported another 853 vaccine doses today.

COVID-19 Summary from Aug. 4 to Aug. 10:

From August 4 to 10, there were 536 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan with 368 recoveries recorded during the same period and six new deaths.

From August 4 to 10, 16,708 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,434,610.

As of August 10, 75 per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and 66 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 immunizations are continuing through walk-in/pop-up clinics at public venues throughout the province, as well as through participating community pharmacies by appointment. All information related to COVID-19 vaccines and immunization clinics will be available at saskatchewan.ca/COVID19-vaccine or through the SHA social media channels.

NITHA Data

As of Aug. 9, there are 102 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 22; Far North West, 35; Far North East, 38; North Central, six; and North East, one.

There are 51 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; 12, Far North West, 20; and Far North East, 13; North Central, six; and North East, 0.

So far there has been 4,116 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and five people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

Six new cases were reported yesterday by the Athabasca Health Authority, bringing the current total to 26 active cases following two recoveries in Stony Lake.

Due to an outbreak declared in Black Lake on July 23, the health authority has reported 64 cases of COVID-19 since that day.
