Province confirms 90 new COVID cases, 682 currently active across Sask.

The province reported another 90 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, 24 of which are in the Far North East zone.

No new deaths were reported but the daily and seven-day average of case numbers have risen in recent days, although not to the extent of Saturday’s daily case numbers which were at 131.

The new figures brings the total to 50,771 reported cases; 682 cases considered active and 49,505 cases considered recovered.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (one), Far North Central (three), Far North East (24), North West (four), North Central (seven), and North East (four).

The cases that are currently active in the northern zones of the province now total 290, which is 43 per cent of the active cases province-wide.

Almost one-third (31.1 per cent) of new cases are in both the 19 and under and 20 to 39 years age category

In Saskatchewan as of today, 584 residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.2 per cent.

With another 1,912 additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine reported in the province today, 668,000 Saskatchewan residents are now fully vaccinated.

NITHA Data

As of Aug. 10., there are 104 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 21; Far North West, 38; Far North East, 38; North Central, six; and North East, one.

There are 47 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; eight, Far North West, 17; and Far North East, 16; North Central, six; and North East, 0.

So far there has been 4126 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and five people are being hospitalized.
