Another 125 new cases of COVID-19 in province, 893 cases currently active

The province is reporting a second day of triple digit new COVID-19 cases in the province.

There are 125 new cases confirmed today, bringing the total to 51,034 reported cases; 893 cases considered active and 49,555 cases considered recovered.

There are 388 cases currently active in Saskatchewan’s six northern zones.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (12), Far North Central (two), Far North East (15), North West (four), North Central (21), North East (four).

No new COVID-19 deaths have been reported today.

Just over one-third (35.2 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

The province is also reporting another 2,539 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has been delivered across the province.

NITHA Data

As of Aug. 12, there are 136 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 18; Far North West, 48; Far North East, 61; North Central, eight; and North East, one.

There are 50 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; nine, Far North West, 17; and Far North East, 16; North Central, eight; and North East, 0.

So far there has been 4,136 cases (96 per cent) that have recovered, and one person is being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

The Athabasca Health Authority said that they have had 72 cases of COVID-19 in communities in Northern Saskatchewan.

So far 48 have recovered and 23 are currently active. One person has died since June 2021 and one person from Black Lake is currently being hospitalized.

Throughout July 2021, nearly 20 per cent of all the active cases were underage/children/teens with some as young as a toddler. Approximately 90 per cent of positive cases being reported in Black Lake and about 10 per cent were reported in Stony Rapids, located 21 km from Black Lake.
